Latest on one of my adopted elephants, Ishanga..

Having previously been a “pushy” problem child, Ishanga has really now come into the role as main comforter of newcomers, lavishing compassion and understanding on them, embracing and consoling them in an extremely touching way.  All the elephants welcome newcomers with an out-pouring of love and understanding, but Ishanga’s attention goes beyond just that.   She understands the trauma of their new predicament fully, forgetting about her own troubles, and focusing on taking care of others suffering the same psychological damage.
